origin BIO
Still with me, thank you for viewing my site. Here is some insight into where I've come from and the road I've travelled.
I was born in San Francisco CA. and was raised next door in foggy Daly City. After my Italian mother passed away when I was very young my father (Peruvian Indian and French Basque) provided for us working two jobs for most of my childhood.
I graduated from SFSU with a degree in Broadcast Communications while playing football, as sports always provided me with focus and a way to further my education.
I’m still Nor-Cal at heart. Growing up, rain or shine, we bused it to 49er games using free kid passes cut from the back of Christopher Milk cartons. Through the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), I served as a ball boy for the Warriors basketball team landing me court side watching some of the greats play. I worked my way through college with a job sweeping Candlestick Park after SF Giants baseball games. I smelled of peanuts and beer, but it paid well! Go 9ers, Warriors & G-men.
Being a child of the 60s and a young man in the 70s music was an essential part of my life. Before I was out of high school I saw almost every band that came to SF and played the Fillmore West, Winterland or the Polo Fields in Golden Gate Park. Late 70's when Punk Rock was the rage, I was into Funk/R&B and began spinning records in dance clubs around SF. Hungry for an opportunity, after an adventure as a cruise ship DJ in the Caribbean, dance music brought me to LA. I co-ran an LA DJ association and found a home as the award winning industry connected resident DJ at the Hollywood Palace, now the Avalon. Known for my turn table skills and the ability to spin a wide range of music, I played top clubs around LA and Palm Springs. I also had an A list private party clientele, which included Clive Davis's Arista Records Grammy Parties, Sandy Gallin, Bruce Willis, Robert Altman, Cartier, etc. Yes, we actually used turntables in those days!
I turned to my imagination early in life. Inspired by the films and actors of my youth I realized there was an outlet to channel my gift. Finally, giving my self permission to learn the craft I studied acting in the day while working clubs at night. During that time period, just to challenge myself, I created a stand up comedy show. I was the MC and booked the comics. I learned a thing or two about improv doing those shows. I am a graduate of the Meisner Technique taught by LA based coach, Joann Baron. In addition, I have studied other aspects of the craft with some excellent teachers Margie Habor and Brian Reese to drop a couple well known names. I have always thought it wise to learn from an insiders POV. Working as a reader for a major casting director was an experience that also proved enlightening.
I earned my SAG card landing a role in the Mike Figgas Film “Mr. Jones," playing opposite Lina Olin and Stephanie Seymour who played my girlfriend. MJ handed me a tough lesson about the film business. I received kudos from the director but in the end the scene was cut from the film.
It was time to leave the clubs behind. I cleared my head with a Harley trip through Europe, six countries in six weeks, and I never looked back! Though my trajectory has had it's ups and downs I've had success working as an actor while keeping my perspective and soul intact. I've tried to pass on what I've learned volunteering teaching acting classes at the SAG Conservatory from time to time.
The purpose of this site is to Say I’m excited and feel blessed when I get an opportunity to express myself through my craft doing my part in this collective art of film and tv production. My passion is anchored by the love of family and friends, humans and animals alike, past and present. I am a free sprit with an open mind who advocates for preservation of the environment and its proper stewardship.
In conclusion, this being my origin page, I've included a clip from a past FOX Super Bowl Sunday kick off show that relives the first owners meeting of what would become the NFL featuring two alumni from Jefferson High in Daly City Ca., native sons John Maddon and myself.
