Being a child of the 60s and a young man in the 70s music was an essential part of my life. Before I was out of high school I saw almost every band that came to SF and played the Fillmore West, Winterland or the Polo Fields in Golden Gate Park. Late 70's when Punk Rock was the rage, I was into Funk/R&B and began spinning records in dance clubs around SF. Hungry for an opportunity, after an adventure as a cruise ship DJ in the Caribbean, dance music brought me to LA. I co-ran an LA DJ association and found a home as the award winning industry connected resident DJ at the Hollywood Palace, now the Avalon. Known for my turn table skills and the ability to spin a wide range of music, I played top clubs around LA and Palm Springs. I also had an A list private party clientele, which included Clive Davis's Arista Records Grammy Parties, Sandy Gallin, Bruce Willis, Robert Altman, Cartier, etc. Yes, we actually used turntables in those days!
I turned to my imagination early in life. Inspired by the films and actors of my youth I realized there was an outlet to channel my gift. Finally, giving my self permission to learn the craft I studied acting in the day while working clubs at night. During that time period, just to challenge myself, I created a stand up comedy show. I was the MC and booked the comics. I learned a thing or two about improv doing those shows. I am a graduate of the Meisner Technique taught by LA based coach, Joann Baron. In addition, I have studied other aspects of the craft with some excellent teachers Margie Habor and Brian Reese to drop a couple well known names. I have always thought it wise to learn from an insiders POV. Working as a reader for a major casting director was an experience that also proved enlightening.
